‘Monica has been providing play therapy, and more recently counselling, to our daughter who has significant general anxiety and aspects of OCD.
She started with her at the age of 7 and continues to see her weekly. In this time, we have seen a huge improvement in areas such as friendships, empathy towards others, understanding of her own feelings and also why people behave a certain way. Her self-esteem is slowly improving which has led to the development of her own personal strength and confidence, particularly with her peers. She is also learning how to recognise and self-regulate moments of panic and anger which is a massive step forward for her.
We feel like we have a true partnership with Monica. She is a calm and nurturing individual with a great depth of understanding and she has a brilliant rapport with our daughter. She operates in an environment of trust where our daughter can have time out, discuss and work on things privately and have the independence to do this, away from her parents. I would strongly recommend Monica to anyone with children experiencing emotional difficulties. We are not sure what we would have done without her over these years.’

Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are.
‘Monica worked with my daughter on a number of issues. There was a big change for the better in her well-being after starting the counselling and this was hugely helpful for the whole family. It was a difficult time for everyone, but Monica stuck with us and remained professional and caring throughout. I would happily recommend her services to others.’
Parent to adolescent who received long-term counselling
‘Several weeks after moving to a new area and school, we became concerned as our son, then aged 5, became withdrawn and just not his usual, happy self. With little explanation from the school, we decided to seek professional help – a decision not taken lightly, having never previously needed any such intervention.
Monica was recommended to us and we arranged an initial telephone consultation. We immediately warmed to Monica, who was friendly and professional, and were particularly reassured to learn that her area of expertise was working with children and young people.
Through regular reviews, Monica kept us informed of the activities, mainly art and play- which our son loved, and interactions that took place during each session and gradually uncovered a couple of concerns, that she was then able to address.
Monica offered coping mechanisms and advice to our son and also to ourselves, in order that as parents, we knew how to reinforce the learnings at home, in a positive and supportive way.
Looking back, it seems like a small ‘blip’ in an otherwise trouble-free childhood, but could well have blown out of proportion had we not addressed it at the time.
We would most heartily recommend Monica to anyone seeking help with their child and thank her for her amazing support!’
